Constant Whining
Tuesday, January 29, 2008 at 10:55AM "I hate going to school!"
"I don't want to take a bath!"
"I don't like to eat carrots!"
"Why does he always get everything?!!"
That last one is my favorite. I often capitalize on such a statement when it's uttered by one of my children. "Honestly, does he always get everything?" That's a lot of stuff to get. Especially when you consider that he's getting everything; and he's getting it all the time. I guess when you put it that way, it doesn't seem fair after all, does it?
Anyhow, what's the deal here? It's just whining, pure and simple. I know, I know, we don't do that any more because we're adults, amen?
The fact is, adults still whine just as much, but we've changed some of the words. You may hear:
"Doesn't anybody even care how I feel?"
"It's not fair that she gets a promotion and I don't!"
"Why don't you respect me?"
"This job is so boring!"
Philippians 2:14 Do all things without murmurings and disputings: 2:15 That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;
Stop Whining Because God Said So
Do all things without murmurings and disputings
God is sick of hearing you belly-ache about everything. Stop muttering under your breath, complaining, and arguing about all you have to do. As my Mom used to say, "Your attitude stinks to high heaven." Not sure where that is, but apparently it's a long way. You can live without whining. You can say nice things. Your attitude can be a blessing to others, instead of a fire hose.
Stop Whining Because Other People Are Watching You
in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation
The trouble with whining is that we think we are being righteous somehow by sharing our feelings with those around us. Something is wrong in the world, and I, the Champion of Justice, will announce it to the entire world. Meanwhile, your lost co-worker sees you complaining about everything and decides, "Hmm...they're not really any different at all. Must be a fake."
So, stop whining. Just be thankful and happy with what you have. After all, isn't everything that you have just he demonstration of God's grace on your life? Shouldn't you be in hell right now because of your sin?
By the way, after awhile my arms and fingers get really tired from typing. It's like a pain that starts in my wrist and moves up towards...Ahh!!! Stop whining, already!
