The New Testament bears out two offices: pastor and deacon. This is distinct from the different callings of God, such as pastor, teacher, and evangelist. In the Bible, you will find several words used interchangeably with pastor, such as bishop, elder, and overseer. They are all referring to one office: pastor. Paul instructed the young pastor Timothy on this subject in his first letter to him.

I think there comes a time in every man's life when he decides that he needs more than himself. I'm not talking just about finding a wife, a job, or a home. I am referring to the time he realizes that he needs something bigger than himself to make it to his desired destination.

Why I Am a Baptist, Part 3 of 4

If you are a true Baptist, you are not intimidated by those who believe differently than you do. You would be hard pressed to find a historical instance of Baptists persecuting anyone for their religious beliefs. We have faults aplenty, but getting mad at people for believing the wrong thing isn’t one of them.
